Virtual School

Every Alabama school system would be required to establish a policy to offer some level of virtual school for high school students by the 2016-2017 academic year according to lawmakers. Schools will be using the ACCESS platform that will allow students to take classes that aren't necessary available at their home schools, like advanced placement courses and electives, as well as regular curriculum courses. Students will turin in assignments and communicate with their teachers online while taking tests with a live facilitator on campus. Virtual school students would be required to take the same standardized assessments as other students at their home school. They could participate in sports and other extracurricular activities at the school they are zoned for.
Cullman County Schools will house their virtual school at the Cullman Area Technology Academy.
