Virtual School

Every Alabama school system is required by bill 82-20, to establish a policy to offer some level of virtual school for high school students by the 2016-2017 academic year. Cullman County Schools, along with the majority of systems in Alabama, is using ACCESS which was established several years ago. Students can take classes that aren't available at their schools, like advanced courses and electives, as well as regular curriculum which would be offered in a traditional setting. Students will turn in their work online as well as communicate with their teachers online. They will be required to take tests on campus with a facilitator. Virtual school students would be required to take the same standardized assessments as other students. They could participate in sports and other extracurricular activities at the school they are zoned for.
The Cullman Area Technology Academy will house the Cullman County Virtual School.
